The Jacksonville Beach Police Department has confirmed the identity of the man who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident on June 29. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Robert J. McMahon, a resident of Jacksonville.
According to reports, the incident took place at approximately 1:05 a.m. when officers responded to a call about a shooting at the intersection of 4th Street North and 6th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found McMahon with gunshot wounds and immediately administered medical assistance until emergency medical services arrived on the scene.
McMahon was swiftly transported to Memorial Medical Center by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) personnel, where despite the best efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries.
An eyewitness at the scene informed the police that two male suspects had pursued McMahon, fired at him, and then fled the area, heading south on 4th Street North.
The Jacksonville Beach Police Department is appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation of this tragic incident.
