Margot Lewis, 32, was arraigned on two counts of second-degree murder in Hennepin County Court in Minneapolis on Monday. She stands accused in connection to the tragic death of 35-year-old Liaria Tsai, whose body was found in Lewis’s crashed vehicle last week.

According to the criminal complaint, authorities found a gruesome scene at Tsai’s Minneapolis apartment on the night of June 22. This discovery came after an Olmsted County Sheriff’s deputy stumbled upon Tsai’s body in the back of Lewis’s wrecked vehicle.

The charges also reveal that a knife was missing from Tsai’s residence. A subsequent autopsy confirmed that Tsai had succumbed to multiple sharp-force injuries, as detailed in court documents.

Security camera footage outside Tsai’s apartment captures a woman believed to be Lewis driving Tsai’s vehicle on the morning of June 22. This footage was recorded just over two hours before the fatal crash on Interstate 90 at the Eyota exit, as outlined in the murder complaint.
