The incidents took place in shopping districts earlier this year, with CCTV footage in Mong Kok helping to identify Li as the suspect. The first attack occurred on February 5 outside Mong Kok MTR station, where Li soaked a 19-year-old girl with water without her noticing.
On February 18, Li targeted a 32-year-old woman in Yau Ma Tei, splashing her with warm water on Sai Yeung Choi Street South and Tung Choi Street. He was eventually apprehended on February 23 after pouring water on a 17-year-old tourist in Causeway Bay.
Li pleaded guilty to three charges of common assault in court, claiming that stress and negative emotions stemming from family and work issues led him to commit the offences. While Li expressed remorse for his actions, a forensic examination confirmed that the liquids he used were non-corrosive and did not contain bodily fluids.
Magistrate Jason Wan Siu-ming sentenced Li to two months in jail for each count, with a partly consecutive sentence resulting in a total of four months behind bars for the defendant.
