Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A suspect has been apprehended by law enforcement after leading police on a high-speed pursuit from Washington to Oregon on Monday evening.

The individual, identified as 27-year-old Jaden Hays, was sought by the Longview Police Department for first-degree robbery and fourth-degree assault charges stemming from an incident that took place in Longview on June 25.

Authorities spotted Hays’ black Volkswagen at Miller’s Market around 8 p.m. on July 1. Despite attempts to stop him, Hays accelerated and initiated a chase that reached speeds of up to 120 mph.

The pursuit extended across the Lewis and Clark Bridge into Oregon, where spike strips were eventually deployed to disable Hays’ vehicle near Clatskanie. In a desperate attempt to evade capture, Hays plunged into the Columbia River, prompting officers to convince him to return to shore for arrest.

Following his apprehension, Hays was taken into custody and booked at the Columbia County Jail on multiple charges, including felony eluding, resisting arrest, and reckless driving. Police have indicated that extradition proceedings to Longview are currently underway.
