SALISBURY — Two individuals have been apprehended following allegations that they enticed a man into an armed robbery by orchestrating false date arrangements online.

The occurrence transpired on Saturday when a man engaged in conversations with a woman on Facebook Messenger who subsequently invited him to Salisbury for a date, as per Major Justin Crews, the public information officer for the Salisbury Police Department. Upon the victim’s arrival at the designated location, a residence in the 800 block of Ivy Street, he alighted from his vehicle and engaged in conversation with the woman. During their interaction, a man purportedly emerged from a car parked in the driveway and brandished a rifle at him. The duo then allegedly absconded with the victim’s possessions, including jewellery and other items valued at approximately $7,510, before driving away.

Subsequent to the robbery, the victim received a communication from the perpetrators, who demanded $1,000 in exchange for the return of his belongings, stated Crews.

The victim reportedly encountered Salisbury police officers in the vicinity, who were investigating a potential homicide on Old Concord Road and apprised them of the situation. The officers subsequently instructed the victim to arrange a meeting at a nearby petrol station.

Upon the perpetrators’ arrival to conduct the transaction, they were apprehended by officers stationed at the location, informed Crews. The female suspect was identified as 28-year-old H’rina B. Adrong, while the male suspect was identified as 25-year-old Myron Sanders.

Upon searching Adrong and Sanders’ vehicle, officers discovered the victim’s possessions, an assault-rifle-style BB gun, and a handgun, relayed Crews.

Adrong and Sanders have been charged with felony conspiracy to commit robbery, felony robbery with a firearm or other dangerous weapon, and felony possession of stolen goods. Sanders additionally faces charges of felony possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

Both Adrong and Sanders were conveyed to the Rowan County Detention Center and were initially denied bail in accordance with the Pretrial Integrity Act.
