Skeletal Remains Found in Orlando Woods Identified After 30 Years

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has recently announced the identification of skeletal remains that were discovered in a wooded area of Orlando over three decades ago.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, the remains were found near Heather Road and Dennis Avenue on Jan. 12, 1993. The victim, a White male, was determined to have died from a gunshot wound to the head, with the case being classified as a homicide.

Despite extensive efforts, the victim remained unidentified for nearly 30 years until recent technological advancements allowed investigators to positively identify him as Greg Carpenter, aged 48.

Greg Carpenter was last seen alive on Dec. 26, 1992, and was reported missing on the same day, almost three weeks before his body was discovered.

With the victim now identified, detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in solving this cold case. Anyone with information about Greg Carpenter or the circumstances surrounding his death is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at (407) 836-4357 or Crimeline at (800) 423-8477.

Providing crucial information could potentially bring justice to Greg and bring closure to his family, as stated in the release.
