A tragic incident unfolded in Lancaster last week when 49-year-old Eddie Greene was shot to death. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office confirmed his identity on Monday.
Deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station rushed to the scene on the 45600 block of Sierra Highway at 8:45 p.m. last Tuesday after receiving reports of a shooting. They discovered Greene, who had sustained fatal injuries, and he was promptly taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Greene’s untimely death marked the first of four fatal shootings that occurred in Lancaster within a 24-hour period. The other victims have yet to be publicly identified, and investigations into these tragic incidents are ongoing.
Following Greene’s shooting, another incident occurred just 35 minutes later, less than five miles away. Deputies responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim in the 400 block of East Avenue L, near a Chevron gas station. A male juvenile was found with gunshot wounds to his torso and despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The violence continued the next day with a gang-related shooting that claimed the lives of two men. Deputies were alerted to the incident at around 5:54 p.m. on Wednesday in the 800 block of East Avenue J-12. Both male Black adults were found at the scene with gunshot wounds and were tragically pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about these shootings, including the one that took Eddie Greene’s life, to come forward.
