A 19-year-old from Central Florida has been arrested in connection with an online extortion case involving a 16-year-old female victim in Tampa. Christopher Patrinostro was taken into custody by Tampa Police Detectives from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Squad on multiple felony charges, including extortion.
The investigation began when the 16-year-old victim reported being contacted online by an unknown individual who later turned out to be Patrinostro. He allegedly sent nude images of the victim and demanded more, threatening to leak the material if she did not comply.
Upon receiving the complaint, detectives launched a thorough investigation, gathering evidence, following leads, and ultimately identifying Patrinostro as the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, and members of the Tampa Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit apprehended him at his residence in Brandon.
In collaboration with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was executed at Patrinostro’s home, where electronic devices belonging to him were seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw commended the victim for her bravery in coming forward and reporting the crime. He emphasised the dedication of the ICAC Squad in pursuing offenders and ensuring they are held accountable for their actions. The case serves as a reminder of the critical need for online safety measures, particularly for young individuals.
Charges and Legal Action
Patrinostro faces charges of Extortion, Promotion of a Sexual Performance by a Child, Use of Computer to Solicit Certain Illegal Acts (Misrepresent Age), and Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communications Device. Following his arrest, he was transported to Orient Road Jail to await further legal proceedings.
