Kentucky State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred at a gun store in Carroll County, resulting in the accidental death of a man.

The authorities were alerted to the shooting by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, who reported the incident taking place at a gun store located at 1496 Whites Run Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arrival at the scene, Kentucky State Police officers found emergency medical services providing assistance to the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound. The injured man, identified as 50-year-old Chad Wainscott, was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Initial findings from the Kentucky State Police’s investigation suggest that another customer inside the store was handling a firearm that was up for sale when a single round was accidentally discharged, striking Chad Wainscott.

Authorities have confirmed that the customer responsible for handling the firearm is cooperating with the investigation, as are witnesses present at the scene. At this time, no charges are expected to be filed, with law enforcement ruling out any suspicion of foul play in the tragic incident.

Kentucky State Police are taking the lead in the ongoing investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accidental shooting at the gun store in Carroll County.
