The chase began when a state trooper attempted to pull over a vehicle on Interstate 87 near Interstate 440 in Wake County. Clark, a 47-year-old resident of Pittsboro, refused to stop and led troopers on a pursuit that extended onto Interstate 40.

Exiting the highway at Exit 273, Clark eventually arrived at his Pittsboro residence, where he barricaded himself inside. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol, along with support from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and the Pittsboro Police Department, surrounded the property and engaged in a standoff that lasted several hours.

The standoff concluded at 5 a.m. on Sunday when Clark was apprehended without any injuries reported during the chase or arrest. Facing multiple charges such as felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving, and resisting a public officer, Clark was taken to the Chatham County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond awaiting a court appearance.
