Billy Booth : “Crete Community Shocked by Mass Shooting Tragedy: Local Response”

Residents of a neighbourhood in Crete, Lincolnshire, are reeling after a tragic shooting incident that left seven people injured. The incident, which took place on Parkland Street and Crestline Drive, was sparked by 74-year-old Billy Booth, who opened fire on his neighbours using a shotgun.

The victims, aged between three and 43, are all expected to recover from their injuries. However, the community is still grappling with the shock of the event.

Sawyer Hanson, the grandson of one of Booth’s neighbours, described Booth as a complex individual who would sometimes exhibit erratic behaviour. He mentioned that there had been previous issues with Booth, but nothing as extreme as the recent shooting.

Crete’s police chief revealed that there was a history of tension between Booth and the affected family. Booth had previously made derogatory remarks towards them, leading to concerns about the incident being racially motivated.

Despite the tragic event, Crete Mayor Dave Bauer emphasised that the shooting does not reflect the values of the community. He stated that Crete remains a tight-knit and supportive town, and that they are working to provide assistance to the affected family.

Members of the family injured in the shooting declined to speak on camera, but a representative from the League of United Latin American Citizens, who is supporting them, mentioned that the past few days have been incredibly traumatic for the family. Originally from Guatemala, the family has been part of the Crete community for a decade.

Bauer reassured the community that they will work together to overcome this tragedy and move forward. He stressed that Crete is a resilient and inclusive town that will not be defined by this isolated incident.
