Woman Arrested for Defiant Trespass in Indiana Borough

A woman identified as “homeless” in police and court records, with a Heilwood address, was arrested twice last week by Indiana Borough Police Department and state police at Troop A, Indiana.

On Saturday night, April Boucher, 38, was taken into custody by Indiana Borough officers for defiant trespass after refusing to leave a property on North Third Street. Despite being asked to leave multiple times, Boucher remained on the property and was ultimately arrested. She was then held in Indiana County Jail on $25,000 bond and arraigned before Blairsville Magisterial District Judge Robert Steele Bell Sr.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 10 at 11 a.m.

Additionally, charges were filed against Boucher by state police for a June 21 incident in Indiana Borough, where she was charged with public drunkenness and similar misconduct. A plea is pending for this incident.

Traffic Stop Leads to DUI Charges for Indiana Man

William N. Jefferson, 48, of Indiana, faces DUI charges following a traffic stop on May 19 by Indiana Borough Police Department. According to the police report, Jefferson was found to be under the influence of alcohol to the extent that he was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.

After being taken into custody, blood evidence was collected from Jefferson, and he was subsequently released to a sober adult. A criminal complaint was filed with Indiana Magisterial District Judge Anthony Sottile III.

This incident adds to Jefferson’s legal troubles, as he was previously charged with multiple felony counts of endangering the welfare of children. In a separate incident on February 25, 2023, Jefferson was identified as an absent guardian for four juvenile children. He entered a guilty plea for the endangerment charges on April 5 before Indiana County Common Pleas President Judge Thomas M. Bianco.

Sentencing for the endangerment charges has been postponed multiple times, with the next hearing scheduled for July 26 at 8:30 a.m.
