INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Victim of Fatal Shooting Identified

The Warren County Prosecutor’s office has officially identified the victim of last month’s fatal shooting in Independence Township as 21-year-old Amanda Pulver.

Tragic Incident on Alphano Road

On the morning of June 27, authorities were alerted to a shooting incident that took place on Alphano Road, near the border of Allamuchy Township. The incident occurred at approximately 8:19 a.m.

Targeted Act Leads to Tragic Outcome

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the suspect in the case, Anthony J. Garvin, 34, of Netcong Borough, was specifically targeting the victim. The community was urged to take precautionary measures and shelter in place during the investigation.

Suspect Apprehended in Pennsylvania

Following an intensive search, Garvin was located in Pennsylvania around 11:30 a.m. and subsequently taken into custody. The victim, Amanda Pulver, was known to the suspect prior to the tragic incident, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Legal Action Taken Against the Suspect

Anthony J. Garvin has been charged with first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of Amanda Pulver, as well as second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose. He is currently being held at the Berks County Prison in Leesport, Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

Ongoing Investigation and Support for the Family

The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office has stated that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as more information is gathered. Various law enforcement agencies, including the Warren County Tactical Team, Independence Township Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, and New Jersey State Police, have collaborated on the case.
