Eleven individuals sustained injuries on Saturday when an escalator malfunctioned at American Family Field in Milwaukee following the Brewers’ defeat to the Chicago Cubs, confirmed Tyler Barnes, the senior vice president of communications and affiliate operations for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Of the eleven injured, six were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the remaining five were treated at the ballpark. The incident occurred as spectators were transitioning from the terrace to the loge level of the stadium after the Brewers’ 5-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

According to Barnes, the malfunction caused an accelerated downward speed on the escalator, resulting in the injuries. Additionally, he mentioned that the team is actively reaching out to the injured individuals.

Following the incident, all escalators at the ballpark, except for the one involved in the malfunction, were inspected overnight and deemed safe for use on Sunday. Barnes reassured the public that regular inspections and preventative maintenance are conducted on all escalators as part of their service agreement.
