Humberside police released a statement saying, “As a result of inquiries, 163 families have now been identified, and officers have been reaching out to them to provide updates and discuss the available options.”
Assistant Chief Constable Thom Mcloughlin, who is spearheading the investigation, stated to The Guardian, “In the past two weeks, my team has been actively engaging with the families associated with this investigation.
“We have been updating them on the recovery of ashes and arranging personal meetings to offer support and discuss the processes and choices available to them.
“Our priority has been the families involved, and we have refrained from sharing this information publicly until we could make initial contact, as we understand the sensitivity and privacy of the matter.”
