Thom Mcloughlin : “Police Meet Families of 163 in Ashes Scandal”

Authorities are currently in contact with the families of 163 individuals who may be linked to the human remains discovered at Legacy Independent Funeral Directors, as reported by The Guardian.

In a shocking turn of events, a total of 35 bodies were unearthed from the company’s premises on Hessle Road back in March.

Following the grim discovery, a 46-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were taken into custody on suspicions of offences including prevention of a lawful and decent burial, fraud by false representation, and fraud by abuse of position.

Humberside Police released a statement stating, “As a result of our investigations, we have identified 163 families connected to this case. Our officers are currently reaching out to them to provide updates and discuss the available options for them.”

Assistant Chief Constable Thom Mcloughlin, who is spearheading the inquiry, shared with The Guardian, “In the past fortnight, our team has been actively engaging with the families linked to this investigation. Our primary goal is to update them on the findings and to offer them the necessary support during this challenging time.”

Mcloughlin added, “We have refrained from making a public announcement until we could reach out to the families first. Their well-being is our top priority, and we respect the sensitivity and privacy of the information involved.”
