Authorities are currently in the process of meeting with the families of 163 individuals who may be linked to the remains discovered at Legacy Independent Funeral Directors, as reported by The Guardian. The investigation has taken a significant turn after the recovery of 35 bodies from the company’s premises on Hessle Road back in March.
Following the grim discovery, a 46-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were taken into custody on suspicion of various charges including prevention of a lawful and decent burial, fraud by false representation, and fraud by abuse of position.
In a recent statement, Humberside police disclosed that they have identified 163 families as part of the ongoing investigation. Officers have been actively reaching out to these families to provide updates and discuss the available options for them moving forward.
