Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 23-year-old man passed away at a hospital in West Bengal’s Jhargram district, a week after he was brutally attacked by a group of individuals, as confirmed by the local police authorities.

This unfortunate incident marks the third death resulting from a mob attack in the state, with two other similar occurrences reported in Kolkata and Salt Lake on June 28th and 29th respectively. The victim, identified as Sourabh Sau, was discovered injured and lying on a road in the Jamboni area near Jhargram town by concerned locals on June 22nd. He was subsequently admitted to a medical facility where he tragically succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

Following a complaint lodged by Sau’s family on June 27th, the police initiated an investigation and registered a case against unidentified individuals. The grieving family members alleged that Sau was assaulted by a group of men allegedly hired by a contractor who accused Sau of attempting to steal parts from an earth mover parked on the roadside.

According to the family’s account, Sau had been out on his two-wheeler for some errands and while returning, he had stopped to rest under a tree in the vicinity of the earth mover machine. Tragically, this violent incident unfolded, resulting in Sau’s untimely demise. This incident adds to the growing concern over mob violence in the region, with recent similar fatalities reported in Salt Lake and Kolkata.

In response to these distressing events, Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim emphasized the need for mass counselling to counteract the rising mass hysteria. Meanwhile, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar, who also serves as the state BJP president, criticized the TMC government for its alleged failure to effectively address and prevent such heinous crimes.
