Soborno Isaac Bari, 12, Makes History as Youngest Graduate at Malverne High School

12-year-old Soborno Isaac Bari is set to make history as the youngest graduate at Malverne High School. His exceptional academic achievements have earned him a scholarship to study math and physics at New York University this fall, with plans to pursue a Ph.D. and become a professor in the future.

Early Academic Achievements

Described as a “prodigy,” Soborno displayed remarkable intelligence from a very young age. At just 2 years old, he memorised the periodic table, showcasing a level of intellect far beyond his years. By the time he was 7, he was already receiving invitations from colleges in India to teach, demonstrating his advanced knowledge and academic prowess.

Skipping Grades and Graduation

Despite his young age, Soborno has skipped several grades during his academic journey. By bypassing grades 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, and 11th, he successfully completed 4th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grades. Passing the New York State Regents exams, he is now on track to graduate from Malverne High School, with educators praising him as a “prodigy” for his exceptional abilities.

Educational Accommodations

To facilitate Soborno’s accelerated academic progress, educators at Malverne High School made special arrangements for him to take high school courses at his middle school. This allowed him to attend eighth-grade core classes in the morning and join his fifth-grade peers for electives and after-school activities at the elementary school, ensuring a balanced educational experience.

Youngest Student at NYU

As Soborno prepares to embark on his journey at New York University, he is set to become the youngest student in the university’s history. With skills in painting, debate, and piano, he is poised to make a lasting impact at NYU as he pursues a bachelor of science degree. The university has confirmed that, to their knowledge, no one younger than Soborno has been admitted before.

Parental Support and Academic Inspiration

Rashidul Bari, Soborno’s father, is a Math Faculty at the City University of New York and a Doctoral candidate at Columbia University. Recognising his son’s exceptional talent in mathematics a decade ago, Rashidul has been a source of support and inspiration for Soborno’s academic pursuits, laying the foundation for his future success.
