Roger Beggs : “Tragic NY Plane Crash Kills Ga. Family”

MASONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — A devastating incident occurred in Masonville, New York, when a small plane carrying five members of a family from Georgia crashed in a rural area. The family, who were in town for a baseball tournament in Cooperstown, met a tragic end when their single-engine Piper PA-46 went down on Sunday afternoon.

The aircraft took off from Albert S. Nader Regional Airport in Oneonta before crashing around 2 p.m., as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The wreckage of the plane and the bodies of the five individuals onboard were discovered later that evening in Masonville, according to New York State Police.

A massive search operation, involving drones, helicopters, and all-terrain vehicles, was carried out by multiple agencies to locate the victims and the crash site.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Roger Beggs, 76; Laura VanEpps, 43; Ryan VanEpps, 42; James VanEpps, 12; and Harrison VanEpps, 10.

The family was en route back to Georgia following their participation in a tournament in Cooperstown, known for being the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, as stated by the police.

The ill-fated plane was destined for Cobb County International Airport in Atlanta with a scheduled refuelling stop in West Virginia before the tragic crash occurred, according to state police.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently conducting investigations into the causes of the crash.
