A devastating vehicle crash in Port St. Lucie has resulted in the loss of a 66-year-old man identified as Richard Wallis from Jensen Beach. The incident took place last week and has left the community in mourning, according to a police spokesperson who shared the news on Monday.

The authorities were alerted to the accident around 11 a.m. on Friday at the 1800 block of Southeast Westmoreland Boulevard. This location, situated west of U.S. 1 and south of Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard, became the scene of a tragic event that would change the lives of many.

Upon investigation, it was determined that a 2019 Nissan sedan was travelling west on Southeast Westmoreland Boulevard when it veered off the road and collided with a concrete power pole. The driver, Richard Wallis, was rushed to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Sgt. Dominick Mesiti, the police spokesperson, highlighted that alcohol may have played a role in the crash, shedding light on a potential factor that led to the tragic outcome. No passengers were present in the vehicle at the time of the incident, and further details are currently unavailable.
