The first pursuit took place on Sunday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., while the second pursuit occurred on Monday morning around 5:30 a.m.

Sunday Morning Pursuit

The Sunday morning pursuit was initiated when DPS Troopers responded to a report of a stolen gray 2011 Dodge Challenger in the vicinity of Auction Barn Road and Loop 121. Belton Police managed to locate the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop the driver, but the individual evaded authorities by fleeing northbound on Loop 121.

During the pursuit, a DPS Trooper spotted the stolen Challenger heading south on IH-35 in Belton. The driver continued to evade law enforcement, turning north onto Connell Street. However, the driver eventually lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll onto its left side on Kegley Road.

Following the incident, emergency medical services evaluated the 13-year-old juvenile driver and the 18-year-old passenger before they were taken to local hospitals for further assessment. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the pursuit.

Monday Morning Pursuit

The second pursuit occurred early Monday morning when a DPS Trooper pulled over a white Ford Fusion on Interstate 14 in Belton for having an expired registration. As the officer exited their vehicle to conduct the traffic stop, the driver of the Ford accelerated away, reaching speeds exceeding 100 mph in an attempt to escape.

The chase continued as the Ford took the 190-west exit towards Lampasas and onto the service road. However, the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing over multiple curbs and a small embankment. Witnesses at the scene reported that the driver attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended in the nearby woods.

The driver, identified as a 37-year-old female from Temple, was found to have taken multiple pills while trying to evade authorities. She was taken to Metroplex ER in Killeen for medical treatment, and DPS has stated that “multiple charges” will be filed once she is released.
