Fourteen first-degree felony charges have been filed in the shooting death of Nico Patino, which occurred at a warehouse after-party in Salt Lake City in May, as announced by the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office.

Abdihakim Mohamed and Nay Blu Soe are facing charges including first-degree felony murder, first-degree felony discharge of a firearm, and second-degree felony obstruction of justice in relation to the incident.

The tragic event took place on May 26 at a warehouse after-party located on 1810 West Fortune Road in Salt Lake City’s Glendale neighbourhood. Upon police arrival, Nico Patino, aged 30, was found in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to reports, video surveillance captured Patino leaving the warehouse with a female companion. As he stood by some cars, a silver car driven by Mohamed and an unidentified individual approached him, while Soe arrived in a Chrysler sedan. Subsequently, Soe, Mohamed, and the unidentified person opened fire on Patino before fleeing the scene in the Chrysler.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill expressed condolences to Patino’s family and friends, emphasising that the charges filed are a crucial step towards justice.
