Accident – Death – Obituary News : Following the tragic mass shooting incident that occurred at Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills over Father’s Day weekend, the Oakland County Sheriff’s office has provided an update on the victims’ conditions. All but two victims have been discharged from the hospital, with the 8-year-old boy, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, being the latest to be released on Friday. The young boy’s brother, aged 4, was also shot in the thigh and was discharged last month, while their mother, aged 39, continues to receive treatment for wounds to the abdomen and leg.

The perpetrator behind the shooting, identified as Michael William Nash, was found dead in his mother’s home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after the incident. Law enforcement officials are still unable to ascertain a motive for Nash’s actions, and it remains unclear whether one will ever be uncovered. An AR platform rifle found near Nash at the scene led authorities to believe that there may have been additional plans for violence.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard expressed concerns about the possibility of further violence, stating that quick containment of Nash may have prevented a more extensive tragedy. The chaotic scene at the splash pad left families in disarray, with ice cream and children’s shoes strewn about as panicked individuals sought safety.

Several families affected by the shooting have set up GoFundMe pages to seek financial support for medical expenses and recovery. One such family, the Lafrates, found themselves separated during the chaos, with the mother, Danielle, sustaining gunshot wounds while protecting their daughter. The father, Mario, was also separated from their teenage daughters but managed to reunite with them after the ordeal.

Another family, the Jacoud Borges, faced terror as they became the first targets of the shooter. The parents, Carlos and Karina, shielded their son from harm, sustaining injuries in the process. The traumatic incident has left lasting scars on the family, both physically and emotionally.

Support is also being sought for the Schumborg family, particularly for Richard, a 77-year-old grandfather who was shot multiple times while at the splash pad with his granddaughter. The community has rallied around these families in a show of solidarity and compassion in the face of tragedy.
