Elk Grove police have apprehended a 44-year-old man in connection with the tragic deaths of his parents, the department revealed on Monday.
Mark Navarette is currently detained in the Sacramento County Jail facing two murder charges, as indicated by jail records. The authorities responded to a distress call from Navarette at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Saturday at a residence on Crosscourt Way. Upon entering the home, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of a man and a woman.
The Elk Grove Police Department has launched a murder investigation into the deaths of Navarette’s parents. According to police reports, Navarette informed officers that one of his parents’ vehicles was missing from their garage. Subsequently, officers reviewed surveillance footage that captured Navarette parking a short distance from his parents’ residence before entering the house and driving away in their car.
After locating the missing vehicle parked where Navarette had left his own vehicle earlier, law enforcement officials proceeded to search Navarette’s residence on the following day. During the search, they uncovered compelling evidence linked to the murders.

The authorities expressed gratitude towards community members who supplied them with crucial video surveillance that ultimately led to Navarette’s arrest. Neighbours who spoke to KCRA 3 fondly described the couple as affectionate, gentle, and kind-hearted individuals. The couple had been longstanding residents of the neighbourhood and were adored by the numerous children living on the block.
As of now, the identities of the deceased parents have not been disclosed by the Sacramento County coroner. Navarette is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday and is currently being held without bail, as per jail records.
