A devastating incident occurred on Sunday morning just west of South Bend, Indiana, resulting in the tragic death of a 75-year-old man. The fatal crash took place at around 10 a.m. on State Road 2 near the US-31 Bypass interchange.

Eyewitnesses reported that a red Chevrolet SUV was travelling west on State Road 2 when it lost control near the Bypass interchange. The SUV veered off the road and careened into the grassy median before colliding with the concrete support wall beneath the bridge. The vehicle finally came to a halt in the northwest cloverleaf of the interchange.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officials confirmed the driver of the SUV, identified as John D. Ulmer of South Bend, had succumbed to his injuries. Ulmer, aged 75, tragically lost his life in the accident.

The authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. It has been determined that no other vehicles were involved in the incident, and Ulmer was the sole occupant of the SUV at the time of the tragic collision.
