James Schuppert : Mauckport Man Arrested for Meth: Truck Found in River

MAUCKPORT, Ind. (WISH) — In a dramatic turn of events, a Mauckport resident found himself in hot water after Indiana State Police discovered his vehicle submerged in the Ohio River.

Upon receiving a report from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department about a vehicle submerged at the Mauckport boat ramp, Indiana State Police troopers sprang into action. Accompanied by first responders, they rushed to the scene to assess the situation.

At the Mauckport boat ramp, responders were met with the sight of an F-150 pickup truck partially submerged in the Ohio River. The driver, later identified as James Schuppert, a 61-year-old resident of Mauckport, Indiana, had inadvertently backed his vehicle too far down the ramp.

Familiar with Schuppert’s background, officers were aware of an active arrest warrant against him. A scuba diver trooper collaborated with A-1 Towing to retrieve both Schuppert and his vehicle from the river.

Following his rescue from the water, Schuppert was promptly taken into custody and transported to the Harrison County Jail in relation to his outstanding arrest warrant.

The charges brought against Schuppert include manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia. This development added a new layer of complexity to the already tense situation.
