SAVANNAH, Ga. — In a dramatic turn of events, Georgia police shot a homicide suspect after he pulled out a gun and fired at officers, as reported by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The incident took place near the entrance to a Home Depot in Chatham County on Sunday night. Chatham County officers had tried to stop the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Gregory Eugene Griffin, who was spotted driving near Victory Drive around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Griffin attempted to evade police, speeding away and eventually crashing into another vehicle while driving in the wrong lane. Upon crashing, Griffin exited his vehicle, brandished a gun, and proceeded to shoot at the officers. In self-defence, the officers retaliated, shooting Griffin near the Home Depot entrance.

Investigation and Consequences

Following the exchange of gunfire, Griffin was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The GBI has not disclosed his current condition. Fortunately, none of the officers involved in the altercation sustained any injuries.
