Tragedy struck the shores of Lake Victoria as a 23-year-old man, identified as Kelvin Okoth Otieno, lost his life in a drowning incident near Wich Lum beach in Bondo, Siaya County.
Siaya County Police Commander, Cleti Kimaiyo, confirmed that the young man accidentally slipped into the lake while taking a bath, leading to his untimely demise.
The unfortunate event was reported to the authorities by Beach Management Unit (BMU) chairperson, Peter Ajulu, prompting a swift response from the Bondo police station.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers conducted preliminary investigations while local divers assisted in the search and recovery efforts to retrieve the body from the depths of Lake Victoria.
Following standard procedure, the body of the deceased was transported to Bondo Sub County Hospital mortuary for further examination, pending an official autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
