ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – Tragedy struck early Sunday morning in Elkhart County as a car crash claimed the life of one individual and left another with serious injuries. The incident occurred outside of Bristol around 5:50 a.m. on State Road 120, just west of County Road 131.
According to authorities, a Honda Accord was travelling west on State Road 120 when it veered off the road, colliding with a mailbox and a tree. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 26-year-old Fernando Diaz Calderon from Elkhart, who tragically lost his life at the scene of the crash.
Additionally, a 27-year-old male passenger, also from Elkhart, sustained severe injuries to his entire body and was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed at this time.
