WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – Law enforcement officials in Black Hawk County have reported the arrest of a man who robbed a gas station in Waterloo and was later apprehended in Clinton County over the weekend.

The incident took place at the Elite Fuel Mart located at the intersection of Elk Run Road and Independence Avenue on Saturday night. According to the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, a man wearing dark clothing and a black mask entered the gas station around 9:23 p.m. and stole money from the cash register before fleeing in a silver Chevy Equinox bearing Iowa license plates with the registration number OJK624.

The suspect has been identified as 45-year-old Ephraim Harrell, a resident of Waterloo. Following the robbery, a deputy from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office spotted the suspect’s vehicle on Sunday morning and conducted a traffic stop.

Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered evidence connecting Harrell to the robbery. As a result, he was arrested on charges of Possession of a Firearm as a Felon and is currently being held in custody at the Clinton County Jail.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Harrell on charges of 2nd degree robbery, and he is expected to be extradited to Black Hawk County to face further legal proceedings.
