Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh: The joyous celebration of India’s victory in the T20 World Cup final took a tragic turn in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, as a 5-year-old child lost his life due to a firecracker accident. The heartbreaking incident was captured on CCTV footage in the area, shedding light on the unfortunate turn of events.
The incident occurred in the Badhaiya Mohalla area under the jurisdiction of the Gohalpur police station. A group of children had gathered in the locality to burst crackers in celebration of India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup. As the children were setting up a rocket in a steel glass, the 5-year-old victim was watching from a distance. Tragically, when the firecracker exploded, a piece of the steel glass flew and accidentally pierced the child’s stomach, causing him to fall unconscious immediately.
Tragic Loss of Life
According to Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Badhaiya Mohalla, “The children were enjoying the festivities after India’s victory when the unfortunate incident occurred. The child was rushed to Victoria Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.” The young victim has been identified as Deepak Thakur, a resident of Badhaiya Mohalla.
The entire incident, captured on CCTV, has now come under police investigation. While the community was jubilant over Team India’s World Cup win, the authorities are now focused on unraveling the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking tragedy.
