Authorities in Pima County are currently investigating a tragic crash that occurred over the weekend, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to several others.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department received reports of a collision at the intersection of Valencia and Mark Road in Tucson on Saturday, June 29th, at approximately 5 a.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered that the crash involved three vehicles, with one of the drivers, identified as 73-year-old Debby Bazan, sustaining serious injuries. Unfortunately, Ms. Bazan later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
According to detectives, Ms. Bazan was travelling west on Valencia Road when she disregarded a red light at the intersection of Valencia and Mark Road. Another vehicle, legally making a turn onto Valencia Road from the north, was in her path.

In an attempt to avoid a collision with the turning vehicle, Ms. Bazan swerved to the left and ended up crashing into two other vehicles that were travelling east on Valencia Road. This resulted in injuries to four individuals.
Following the impact, the driver of one of the vehicles involved fled the scene. Subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of the individual, 25-year-old Da’Quan Cain, on a felony charge of hit-and-run involving a fatality. Cain has been booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex.
