Moniz Rabino, 28, has been charged with first-degree murder and child abuse in connection with Kai’s death. The tragedy unfolded on June 1 when Metro police received a distressing call about a child, later identified as Kai, who was found unresponsive. Paramedics rushed Kai to the hospital, where medical professionals discovered bruising on his head and a fracture in his leg.
Initially, Kai’s mother claimed that the injuries were the result of a fall from a bed a few days prior. However, further examination revealed that Kai had suffered multiple brain bleeds and a fractured leg, indicating possible deliberate harm. Doctors noted signs of non-accidental trauma, including suspected shaking, leading them to conclude that Kai had been subjected to severe abuse.
