Kentucky State Police are currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred at a gun store in Carrolton. The authorities were alerted by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office about a shooting at a gun store located on Whites Run Road on a Saturday evening.
Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a victim inside the store receiving medical attention from EMS personnel for a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 50-year-old Chad Wainscott from Worthville, was later pronounced dead at the hospital due to his injuries.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by KSP, the shooting took place when a customer was examining a firearm for sale and accidentally discharged a round, hitting the victim who was also present in the store. Despite the immediate efforts of other patrons to save the victim’s life, the injuries proved fatal.
The individual responsible for handling the firearm is said to be cooperating with the investigators, and witnesses present at the scene have been questioned. At this point in time, no foul play is suspected, and no charges have been filed. However, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
