BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE) – Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) is gearing up for its annual state conference, scheduled to take place on October 23-24 at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge. The conference will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders to discuss and share best practices in litter prevention, recycling, beautification, and sustainability efforts in Louisiana.

The conference is open to local and state leaders, government administrators, community organizations, non-profits, university staff and students, as well as individual community members who are passionate about preserving Louisiana’s natural beauty.

The lineup of speakers for the event includes prominent figures such as Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, KLB Executive Director Susan Russell, and former Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne. Dardenne will be presenting on his film and documentary companion book, titled “Why Louisiana Ain’t Mississippi … or Any Place Else!”

According to Nungesser, the conference serves as a crucial platform for stakeholders to come together and address the pressing issue of litter in Louisiana. He emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts in moving towards a cleaner and greener Louisiana.

This year’s conference will feature a new format with breakout sessions, allowing attendees to tailor their experience by selecting sessions of interest. Some of the topics covered in the breakout sessions include the role of technology in combating litter, green events and festivals, household hazardous waste, and more.

Russell highlighted the networking and idea-sharing opportunities that the conference provides, emphasising the importance of learning from one another and implementing innovative solutions in local communities.

The conference will culminate with the Everyday Hero Awards luncheon, recognising individuals, businesses, and non-profits that have made significant contributions to cleaning up Louisiana. Nominations for the award are currently being accepted until August 29.
