According to the warrant, Stallings initially left her daughter in the car with the air conditioning on. However, Stallings claimed that her daughter must have felt cold and turned off the car herself. This decision ultimately proved to be fatal for the young girl.

After not receiving any text messages from her daughter for an hour and a half, Stallings grew concerned and went to check on her. To her horror, she found her daughter unresponsive in the backseat floorboard, with foam coming out of her mouth. Medical staff who examined the victim pronounced her dead, stating that she had suffered from a herniated brain as a result of hyperthermia.

During questioning, Stallings admitted that she was aware of the outside temperature, which was a scorching 94 degrees. She acknowledged that leaving her daughter inside the car alone was a grave mistake that she deeply regrets.
