In a heartbreaking turn of events, the Garcia family of Odessa is reeling from yet another devastating loss following a deadly crash that occurred last week. The community has come together to support the family through this difficult time, but they are now facing the news of another tragic loss connected to the same incident.

“As you are aware, Johnny and Angie’s son, Argen, passed away in a tragic vehicle accident on Tuesday. It is with great sadness that I share that another one of their sons has succumbed to their injuries and passed away today,” a Gofundme announcement revealed on Sunday.

Although authorities have not officially confirmed the death, loved ones have stated that Axell Garcia, who had been on life support since the crash, tragically succumbed to his injuries on June 30.

“Their only surviving son is showing improvement,” the fundraiser continued. “Angie has undergone multiple surgeries to repair numerous broken bones and is currently in stable condition. The family’s struggle is just beginning, with Angie and Aceyn facing months of rehabilitation in addition to the profound grief they are experiencing. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”

According to the crash report, the incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. on June 25 at the intersection of FM 554 and Cottonwood Road. The report indicated that a Chevrolet truck was heading west on Cottonwood Road towards the intersection of FM 554 and Cottonwood Road, while a GMC Acadia was travelling north on FM 554 towards the same intersection. The driver of the GMC, 61-year-old Elizabeth Lucille Ertel from Andrews, proceeded through the intersection and was struck when the driver of the Chevrolet truck, identified as Ashley Danielle Hillin from Midland, failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. Both vehicles came to rest on the northwest corner of the intersection in a field.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries, while a young boy from Odessa, Argen Garcia, tragically lost his life in the crash. Additionally, several GMC passengers were injured, with two other young boys requiring hospital treatment for serious injuries, along with 41-year-old Angela Nicole Garcia from Gardendale.
