Speaking exclusively to KSAT 12 News on Monday, the brave individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, recounted the harrowing incident that took place near Highway 281 and Thousand Oaks on a scorching Friday afternoon.

The woman explained how she had just parked her own vehicle when she noticed a young boy crying in the front seat of the car next to hers. Alarmed by the sight of the distressed child, she peered further into the vehicle and discovered two more children, a one-month-old baby, a two-year-old, and a four-year-old, left unattended.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the woman wasted no time in alerting the authorities by dialing 911. With the help of other concerned individuals in the vicinity, she managed to safely extract the children from the sweltering car through an unlocked door, as the engine had been switched off, depriving the youngsters of any respite from the scorching heat.

The temperature that fateful Friday had soared into the triple digits, and it appeared that the children had been left in the hot car for approximately 50 minutes, according to the police. The woman described the distressing condition of the children, with the boy sweating profusely and the girl appearing to be in a state of shock.

Following her swift actions, the woman recorded the scene on her phone, intending to raise awareness about the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles, especially during the sweltering summer days. The video, which she briefly shared on social media, quickly went viral, garnering millions of views and shares.

Despite the unintended fame brought about by the viral video, the woman emphasized that her primary concern was to highlight the importance of vigilance and child safety in such situations.

Upon the arrival of the children’s mother, 33-year-old Angela Garza-Amador, who had allegedly left her children unattended in the hot car, she was promptly arrested by the police and charged with three counts of endangering a child. The woman who intervened in the situation believes that the incident may have been a grave error on the mother’s part, emphasizing that Garza-Amador likely did not intend to place her children in harm’s way.

Expressing relief at being in the right place at the right time, the good Samaritan acknowledged that Garza-Amador would now have to face the consequences of her actions. In the aftermath of the incident, the children have been placed in the care of other relatives by the Department of Family and Protective Services.
