BOZEMAN, Montana – A devastating motorcycle crash on Lariat Loop near Bozeman has left a community in mourning after a 23-year-old woman lost her life on a fateful Sunday afternoon.
The chain of events leading to the fatal accident unfolded as a car travelling eastbound on Lariat Loop approached the intersection at Lariat Loop and Sourdough Road. The driver of the car, a 26-year-old woman from Bozeman, came to a stop at the intersection and began to make a left turn to head northbound.
Tragically, a motorcycle travelling southbound on Sourdough Road collided with the car as it was making the turn. The motorcycle rider, a 23-year-old woman from Big Sky, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the driver of the car emerged from the accident unscathed, the emotional toll of the incident is immeasurable. The Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) has indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor in the collision.
