NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – In a heartwarming turn of events, a search and rescue mission conducted by deputies from Natchitoches and Winn parishes resulted in the safe recovery of a missing teenager on Sunday morning.
Family Reports Teen Missing
The ordeal began when concerned family members contacted the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office around 10:12 p.m. on Saturday to report that their 16-year-old relative had not returned from a trip to the woods at a deer lease located off Shady Grove Road.
Adding to the urgency of the situation, the family indicated that the teenager was particularly vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. This concern was heightened by the extreme heat warning in effect for Natchitoches on Saturday, with temperatures soaring to 100 degrees and high heat index values.
Search and Rescue Efforts Commence
Using the Life 360 tracking app, family members attempted to locate the missing teenager but were unable to pinpoint his exact whereabouts upon reaching the designated area. Promptly responding to the distress call, deputies from Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene to gather information and coordinate search efforts.

Joining forces with the Winn Parish K-9 Chase and Tracking Team, NPSO deputies embarked on an all-terrain vehicle search mission. Meanwhile, an EMS unit and members of Natchitoches Parish Fire District #6 stood by, ready to provide assistance as needed.
Teen Found Safe and Sound
After hours of thorough searching, the dedicated search team located the missing teenager unharmed at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. The teen was swiftly transported via all-terrain vehicle to the waiting EMS unit for a comprehensive assessment of his well-being. Once medically cleared, he was reunited with his relieved family members.
