A talented 18-year-old has captured the hearts of many with her incredible crochet skills, as she crafted her very own stunning dress for prom.
Sarah Akinbuwa, who faced bullying for her passion for crocheting, began honing her skills at the age of 12 in Nigeria before moving to Somerville, Massachusetts.

In an interview with the Boston Globe, Akinbuwa shared the inspiration behind her creation.
The gown she crafted features a striking pink hue, cascading elegantly to the floor, adorned with delicate crochet roses. To complete her look, she also fashioned a matching handbag and shrug.
Akinbuwa’s journey to fame began when she shared snippets of her crochet process on TikTok, amassing over 26 million views and admiration from viewers worldwide.
Despite the challenges she faced, Akinbuwa dedicated countless hours to perfecting her craft, a decision she is grateful for as she reflects on her growth.
“I’m proud of how far I’ve come,” she expressed to the Globe. “I’m thankful I persevered through the negativity.”
