HOUSTON, Texas — A suspected drunk driver was apprehended by authorities after being caught speeding at over 105 mph on the S. Sam Houston Tollway E. in Houston.

On June 30, 2024, Toll Road Deputies from Constable Jerry Garcia’s Office noticed a vehicle travelling at 105 mph in a 65 mph zone, as per a statement released by the department. Deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 9200 block of S. Sam Houston Tollway E.

Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies observed multiple indications of intoxication from the driver, prompting them to conduct a thorough DWI investigation. The driver, identified as 59-year-old Roderick D. Hunter, exhibited signs of impairment during Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, confirming the suspicion of intoxication, according to the police.

Subsequently, Roderick D. Hunter was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center for driving while intoxicated.
