The fatal shooting took place around 2:25 p.m. in the 4400 block of Chesapeake Bay Drive, where Fort Worth Police Department discovered MSGT Bass with fatal gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite efforts by medical personnel to save him, the veteran educator succumbed to his injuries.
In a significant development, Fort Worth police announced on Saturday that a suspect, identified as a family member of the victim, had been apprehended in Valdosta, Georgia by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, Xavier Bass, allegedly approached the victim’s residence, fired multiple shots, and fled the scene before being caught by authorities.
Lowndes County jail records indicate that Xavier Bass is being held on a charge related to the incident in Tarrant County, Texas. WFAA has sought additional information from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office to gain further insight into the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the ongoing investigation.
