Accident – Death – Obituary News : CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Virginia man is facing charges after allegedly shoving a referee at a wrestling match in Concord, North Carolina. The incident took place on June 22nd at the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord. The referee, identified as Sean, reported that the man, later identified as Joshua Hammond, became agitated after a call he made during a match.

Court documents revealed that the altercation occurred when Sean attempted to stop an illegal move during the match. In a video posted on TikTok, which has been viewed over 23 million times, Sean can be heard instructing the wrestlers to stop the move. Hammond, the wrestler’s companion, had complained to Sean earlier about an eye poke incident during the match.
Despite not witnessing the alleged eye poke, Sean allowed the wrestler to take a 90-second break before resuming the match. However, tensions escalated when Sean blew his whistle to correct an illegal move, prompting Hammond to walk onto the mat and shove Sean several feet. Hammond was subsequently ejected from the tournament.
Sean, a seasoned referee, emphasized that such incidents are rare in his experience. While he was unharmed, he decided to press charges against Hammond with Cabarrus County authorities. Following the incident, Sean posted the video on TikTok to raise awareness and hold Hammond accountable for his actions.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia confirmed Hammond’s identity from the video, leading to his arrest and subsequent release on bond. Hammond is expected to turn himself in to Cabarrus County authorities to face the charges filed against him.
