The first tragic incident occurred at 11 p.m. on Friday night, when authorities were summoned to the 600 block of Morton Street in Northwest D.C. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as 39-year-old Jontae Gilliam, succumbed to his injuries. As of now, no suspect or vehicle description has been provided in connection with this case.

Less than 24 hours later, at around 4 p.m. on Saturday, another life was lost in a shooting on the 2700 block of Shipley Terrace. The victim was identified as 29-year-old Dionzae Foote, hailing from Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Authorities believe the perpetrator fled into an apartment on the block, prompting a barricade situation. However, it was later determined that the suspect had vacated the premises. Initially, law enforcement issued a lookout for a silver sedan linked to the incident.

Prior to this second homicide, at approximately 1:30 p.m., homicide detectives were called to the 1800 block of Providence Street, Northeast, following the fatal shooting of 45-year-old Michael Sturgent Morris. FOX 5 was present at the crime scenes as homicide detectives and forensic teams commenced their investigations. Despite a 25% decrease in homicides compared to the same period last year, the summer season typically witnesses a surge in criminal activities across the District.

In addition to the aforementioned fatalities, four separate shootings occurred across D.C. on Saturday. One incident unfolded in the 2800 block of Pomeroy Road, Southeast, where a black man in his mid-20s, clad in a white t-shirt, is being sought by authorities.

Another shooting transpired in the 2700 block of R Street, Southeast, involving a black sedan carrying four individuals. The vehicle was last observed heading down Texas Avenue, SE.

A third shooting occurred in the 2800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, with no suspect description currently available. Meanwhile, law enforcement is investigating a fourth shooting in the 6100 block of Banks Place, Northeast, and is on the lookout for a Black woman wearing a white hoodie, dark jeans, and white shoes.
