TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – A devastating car crash on the far eastside of Tucson has resulted in the death of one woman.
Shortly after 9:00pm on Saturday night, authorities were called to the scene of a serious collision at the intersection of E. 22nd St. and S. Sarnoff Dr.
According to Tucson Police Department (TPD), the incident involved two vehicles – a 2018 Nissan Murano and a 2018 Dodge Caravan.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 68-year-old Candace Ann Zenor, was rushed to the hospital by Tucson Fire with critical injuries. Tragically, Zenor was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan was also taken to the hospital for treatment, although their injuries were reported as serious but not life-threatening.
After conducting a thorough investigation, detectives determined that Zenor was making a left turn from 22nd St. onto southbound Sarnoff Dr. when her vehicle was struck by the oncoming Dodge.
TPD revealed that evidence suggests the driver of the Dodge was exceeding the posted speed limit of 40 MPH at the time of the collision.
Furthermore, it was discovered that the driver of the Dodge Caravan, a 35-year-old female, was driving under the influence at the time of the accident.
TPD has identified failure to yield while turning left by the Nissan driver, and impaired driving and speeding by the Dodge driver, as the primary factors contributing to the crash.
An ongoing investigation is underway, and charges against the responsible parties are currently pending.
