Aldabra Giant Tortoises Found Dead in Wooded Area near Exeter

In a deeply concerning discovery, two bodies of Aldabra giant tortoises were found in a wooded area north-east of Exeter on Monday, January 8th. Shockingly, an additional five tortoises were found nearby just four days later on Friday, January 12th. The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this unusual incident, taking into account the protected status of these magnificent creatures.

The officers on the case are actively working to identify the owners of the tortoises and determine why they were discarded in such a callous manner. They are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in establishing the origin of the animals and assist in the investigation of potential criminal offenses.

Inspector Mark Arthurs, who is leading the investigation, made a plea to the public, saying, “We are appealing to members of the public for information to try to establish the circumstances around this discovery and to identify those responsible. We would ask that if anyone knows anything, they get in touch.”

The police are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who may have recently purchased a giant tortoise in the area or know of someone who has had a significant number of these creatures but now possesses fewer. Any information, no matter how small, could prove vital in solving this distressing case.
