Breaking News: Two Women Fatally Shot in Apex, North Carolina

APEX, N.C. (WNCN) — In a tragic incident that unfolded on Brussells Drive in Apex earlier today, two women have tragically lost their lives after being shot, according to the police.

The authorities were alerted to the sound of gunfire shortly after 3 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered two women who had sustained gunshot wounds. Disturbingly, additional gunshots were also heard.

Unfortunately, just after 9:15 p.m., the police confirmed that both women had succumbed to their injuries. The tragic incident also claimed the life of a dog that was present at the crime scene.

The gunshots were traced back to the 1600 block of Brussels Drive, where the police encountered the shooting suspect. Thankfully, without any further violence, the officers were able to apprehend the suspect and take them into custody.

The suspect has been identified as Harry Hardman from Apex. He is currently being booked into Wake County Jail and is facing charges of two counts of murder and one count of animal cruelty, as stated by the Apex police in a news release.

Following the shooting, the two women were immediately provided with medical attention and transported to a nearby hospital. However, despite the efforts made, their injuries proved to be fatal.

At this time, the police have stated that there is no reason to believe that there are any additional suspects involved or any ongoing threats to public safety.

In the aftermath of the incident, the residential street on Brussels Drive was filled with at least a dozen law enforcement vehicles. Some of these vehicles were strategically positioned to block off the entrance to the neighborhood, while several lines of police tape marked the area of investigation.
