She pursued her studies at Kenyatta University College, now known as Kenyatta University (KU), where she obtained a diploma in education.
After completing her education, Lizzie ventured into the world of entrepreneurship. She opened a secretarial training college in Nairobi in partnership with others, but later decided to pursue her own path.

The Birth of NIBS
In the year 2000, Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike embarked on a new journey by launching the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies. With a capital of Sh6 million, half of which was obtained as credit from Equity Bank, and 25 students, she laid the foundation of what would become a prestigious business school.
Over the years, NIBS has grown exponentially and now boasts multiple branches in Thika Town, Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), Kimbo, Ruiru, and Ong’ata Rongai. The institution currently caters to over 7000 students, providing them with quality education and shaping their future.
In addition to her accomplishments in the field of education, Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike also ventured into the hospitality industry with the establishment of the Emory Hotel. Located in Kileleshwa, the four-star hotel stands as a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit.
